Since the beginning i had trouble getting a underlying structure for the glyph. I stumbled across one that could be it : the stella octangula ( the ingress logo could be a related representation ) . That structure could be seen a the union of two tetrahedron or and octahedron with a tetrahedron on each side. That structure is also known as star tetrahedron .
