Dated to the mid-second millennium BCE, the eruption was one of the largest volcanic events on Earth in recorded history. It is speculated that the minoan civilization was destroyed by this vulcanic eruption.

As I investigated the minoan culture I stumbled over the bronze idalion tablet (5th century BC) which is related to the cypriot syllabary and has it´s origin within the minoan culture.
