Yesterday when talking about what 2.0 may hold in store for us, there were wishes for (Magnus) archetypes to play a bigger role. One idea mentioned was that agents that displayed traits of an archetype may receive slight bonuses ingame. But how do you recognize which agent represents which archetype(s)?
Badges. Badges that correlate with your archetype are those that you pursue even when it has reached onyx level. So - together with other Essexians - I created a List of which Badge and which Magnus archetype may be connected (plus a few comments where a debate occured):
Explorer-Archetype
* Trekker-Badge
* Explorer-Badge
Interpreter-Archetype
* Translator-Badge
Both Lightman and Carrie are known to have a connection with glyphs. But even though it was Lightman that implemented the Badge, it is suspected that he inherited some aspects of Carrie's Interpreter Archetype when she died.
Skeptic-Archetype
* Operation Portal Recon - Badge
Given that the entire OPR-Tool requires a thorough investigation of a portal candidate and even some level of self-doubt, the Skeptic Archetype is the most obvious choice.
Dreamer-Archetype
* Mind Controller-Badge
Alchemist-Archetype
* Engineer-Badge
* Builder-Badge
Catalyst-Archetype
* Hacker-Badge
* Liberator-Badge
Visionary-Archetype
* Illuminator-Badge
* SpecOps-Badge
Given that doing some missions in a specific order results in a bigger picture, the Visionary-Archetype seems like the right choice.
Patron-Archetype
* Recruiter-Badge
* (Mission Day-Badge)
Both badges somewhat represent community. The Mission Day Badge however only represents taking part in such a community event, whereas the Patron-Archetype may more likely be found on the organising side of such event.
Omniscient-Archetype
* Recharger-Badge
Listener-Archetype
* Seer-Badge
Humanist-Archetype
* Pioneer-Badge
* Purifier-Badge
These Badges may to some extend contradict each other but the Humanist connects these aspects. It may be in the Explorer's character to discover new things but it is humanity's very nature to leave a mark. Whether it is planting a cross on the peak of mountains or a flag on the moon, this is humanities attempt to overcome the transience of life by creating something that lasts longer.
The Purifier Badge however represents (re-)creating the neutral state, resetting a portal to a state unassociated with either faction - as humanity in essence is cross-faction.
Trickster-Archetype
* Connector-Badge
* Guardian-Badge
Spiritualist-Archetype
* Sojourner-Badge
Given the stamina, fervor and passion required to keep Ingress in your mind for days, years - potentially even decades - that is something only the serenity of the Spiritualist can explain.
So, do you agree? Do you disagree? Let me (and the rest of us) know! :)
