It occurs to me that we have an opportunity to test some theories about both simulacra and portal entanglement. There are several sites where we have good reason to believe quantum entanglement between researchers and portals might have been established after their induction to the Niantic Project team. Any connection Oliver Lynton-Wolfe might have established to Buenos Aires or Wunsdorf, for instance, would have been made after his initial conversion.
If we can measure the ongoing extent of that entanglement it might help establish a framework for understanding how a person embodied as a simulacrum relates to the "pure human" biological entity from which the original pattern is generated. If the entanglement was transferred across the recursion event then we can assume there is a continuity between them despite the loss of memory. If, on the other hand, recursion disentangles portals from those who have engaged with them then we might make a case that the simulacra generated are existentially distinct - more like twins raised apart than a single person reincarnate.
If we do establish continuity of entanglement across recursion then we may yet be able to restore lost memory by leveraging the connection to past XM patterns.
