ARCHETYPES PERSONALITIES AND CONFLICT

ARCHETYPES PERSONALITIES AND CONFLICT

Edgar Allan Wright Trying to understand this logically has been an interesting but fun challenge- so lets enter the rabbit hole..

Archetypes are roles composed of who we are. Which then begs the question of how do they relate to personalities? While there are many schools of thought on this, one is that we are all composed of various levels of Knowledge & Understanding, Romantics & Imagination, Regulations & Structure, Passion & Impulse.

We all have Primary traits, and secondary traits- or we would all personify a particular archetype more than we would another. Looking at this diagram, we can see how particular archetypes manifest themselves based on dominant core personality traits.

You get to pick one from each color zone, starting with your Primary Dominant Archetype, pick one from that zone, moving to your secondary type from another zone and so on. The closer you get to the center of the diagram, the more balanced you are in relation to other personality types, the further you go from the center the more specialized you become. Depending on what combination you choose as your Primary and Sub Archetype, what combination of types would you chose? Classifying where these types go is open for discussion, but in placing them where they are I had to ask what defines each type at its core. Some Archetypes have composed of mixed personality types.

We will use Oliver-Lynton Wolfe as an example here. I would classify his primary dominant Archetype as an Alchemist, and his secondary type as Trickster. Since both are extreme, one represents a pure form of Knowledge and another is Impulse & Passion, his sanity can be called into question because he takes these types at the expense of Ethical archetypes, such as Humanist or Skeptic and he would find himself in conflict with individuals like the Humanist Devra.

Im not an expert on human behavior, let alone on a researchers brain that has been influenced by XM. Ive simply taken a few psychology courses. But what do you think?

This diagram also highlights the danger of being Omniscient. If you are Omniscient, that is your only choice- to which ill quote John Locke from lost, “Crazy People Don't Know They're Going Crazy, They Think They're Getting Saner.”

In applying this to myself, i would classify my Primary Archetype as Dreamer, and secondary as an Explorer..
