Evaporating XM:
I've always been curious of the XM that appears to evaporate into thin air off of the tops of portals on our scanners. The XM particles are vanishing, thus appear to be converting into another type of matter (in order to disappear) and going "somewhere". Where is this XM going? Is there some huge XM clouds up in the skies above us? If there is, why is it not periodically raining XM down on us (if XM can even do that).
Or, is it just assumed that the disappearing XM is just falling to the ground every 20 minutes and thus gives us the XM on the ground to pick up. If that were the case, then there should be snowhill-sized XM piles on the ground on portals that aren't visited often.
Apologies if this is explained somewhere else already. If it has been, I haven't found the reference yet. Maybe I'm just looking too much into this and should just ignore it. But I can't; this is bugging me.
