The Four Quadrants in Trigonometry

The sign and value of trigonometric functions - sine, cosine or tan - depend on the quadrant they line in. The measurement of an angle has a convention too - anticlockwise, starting from the  bottom of the first quadrant.

The following animation shows how the quadrants affect the sign of a trigonometric value.

The acronym for remembering it, CAST, is at the centre of the animation.
