I came across this in my archiving work. Did we ever find out about this little arc of people?
1. http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/pac/IB/00/item/abducted.png - this mentions a Prof. R – do we have any researchers last name R?
2. Jason S. is the student inquiring about this. Did we see Jason S again ever?
3. The newspaper clipping lead to a youtube video – http://niantic.schlarp.com/investigation:videos:external#professor_talks_about_portals (The university in the clip is the University of California, Berkeley based on the sphere sculpture in the slides.) – there are two students shown in the video as well, Amanda and Charlie (not the student who wrote the article)
4. There was one more follow up about this arc that I know of – - The Niantic Investigation 3 - Abductions which does mention the professor disappearing and then that the student (or students not sure if it is just her or both) is missing
5. Have there been other references to these people?
So was this just a way to establish the concept of portals (at the time these initially leaked we were just learning about Ingress) – or is there more here the study described almost sounds like what Kureze was doing with the XM sat study (maybe the A662 lab studies - which gives a time then to that of 18 weeks) – was this person one of those researchers? Kureze initial studies are what gave way to the Niantic Project. Some have thought the professor in the video might be Dr. Schubert, but then who is Prof. R?
And last – Tycho and Ben showed back up after – has the prof and the students????
